Giving and Receiving
Having the gift of insight, sensing and seeing spirit beings rather they be loved ones who have passed or other, understanding what I am seeing and putting it into words for someone else to understand, dealing with questions of my own faith and self-doubt, managing reality on those days when I feel like I am between worlds, seeking others’ help in understanding what it means to do work such as “grounding,”……….
The list can go on. And then on top of all of that, dealing with the business side of things? Can’t someone else deal with this?
For a number of years, I ran my own piano studio. Having students of all ages come to me for a thirty-minute lesson each week. When I began giving readings to the general public, I went along with what the store suggested (which ever location I was at). Then, I began seeing what other “mediums” were charging per hour. It has been a yo-yo of trying to define this side of things. And the charge per session in $$, it all depended on my location and who it was for.
Only those closest to me know and understand how God has closed the door to what I knew and was comfortable with to pushing me out into this world of sharing with people my gift and my faith (difficult to say the least).
When someone comes to me for a reading, I never know what to expect therefore I certainly cannot tell them before hand which direction (if any) the reading will go. Some people will get the whole family coming into my sight, while others will get more of the “psychic” type of reading pertaining to their own life path. Will this reading involve pets? Do I use the cards on this one? Presently, I need to make sure I have a sketch pad on hand just in case I go into a “drawing”.
Needless to say, it’s so much easier for me to have one come to me either by phone or Skype (which is totally cool to get to see you on camera).
How many readings can I do per day? After having two, I am usually ready to crawl into a dark corner away from lights and voices so I can rest. Before doing that, however, I am usually skooting around in my socked feet throughout the house. Yes, there is no carpet in the house so I literally will make the floor an ice skating rink. Why? Because I’m grounding and trying to get back to reality! If it’s a warm day, I may even go outside and just stand there. If I am really out of sorts, I grab the salt and crackers or a piece of chocolate.
And then you think I can do this all day long? You’re kiddin’ me right? I think that I kidded myself about that, but I’ve learned my lesson in that regards.
I am sure that my Christian faith has a lot to do with me sensing a calling into some sort of ministry with this. It was, by the way, the route I was going. In my teens, I felt the call to missions so I went to college with plans of going on to seminary. Instead of seminary, I went into teaching elementary students at a Christian school. Church became almost 24/7.
Does God have another path for me? Apparently so, and I’m testing the waters. One test of faith is scheduling readings and relying on donations to be made afterwards. Sort of backwards for a business, but then again, it is a ministry. Do I put my faith in God and depend on Him. Well, actually, I have done that and if it was not for Him, I would not be where I am today. To be still standing is a good thing.
It has been frightening to literally see God shutting the doors in areas such as finding security in a regular paycheck. That whole experience will one day be in print, either as a blog or a book. Time will tell.
But for now, again, I am putting the word out to all who are seeking and searching. I can only tell you what I see and hear. That’s my job and ministry. I pray that what I am shown is a help, a comfort, and a blessing. Donations will be accepted after the reading. There is no set price, and I’ll leave that up between you and God.
So for those of you reading this, I thank you for your prayers and sharing this with others. Scheduling a reading is simple. Visit my website and go to the contact page.
